Maligaon (Guwahati), Oct 21 : The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is operating 48 festival special trains for a total of 613 trips between September and December 2025 to manage heavy passenger traffic during Diwali and Chhath Puja.
NFR said the specials connect major destinations including Katihar, Sonpur, Dauram Madhepura, Agartala, New Tinsukia, SMVT Bengaluru, Amritsar, Patna, Dibrugarh, Gorakhpur, Silchar, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ranchi, Charalapalli, Mumbai Central, Agra Cantt, Jogbani, Shalimar and Kamakhya, among others. Services are being scheduled on daily, weekly, tri-weekly or specified weekday patterns based on demand and operational feasibility. The additional trips aim to clear extra rush to and from the Northeast, North Bengal and Bihar.
Passengers have been advised to check detailed timings, stoppages and coach compositions through official railway sources before planning their journeys.
