ADG Border Roads (East) reviews Project Arunank works in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Oct 18 : Shri Jitendra Prasad, Vishisht Seva Medal, Additional Director General Border Roads (Eastern Projects), concluded a five-day inspection of infrastructure works under Project Arunank on October 16. The project, headquartered in Naharlagun, has been engaged in constructing roads and bridges across several districts of Arunachal Pradesh since 2008.

During his visit, Shri Prasad called on Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd), PVSM, UYSM, YSM, and briefed him on the Border Roads Organisation’s ongoing efforts to improve border infrastructure in the state. The Governor commended the BRO as a “reliable and longstanding partner” in Arunachal Pradesh’s development.

The ADGBR (East) also met Chief Secretary Shri Manish Gupta, IAS, to discuss innovative methods for constructing durable roads with minimal environmental impact. In a separate meeting with Shri P. Subramanyam, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, he explored measures to expedite forest clearances for upcoming border road projects.

Accompanied by Chief Engineer (Project Arunank) Brig H. Bhattacharya, Shri Prasad inspected roads under construction in Upper Subansiri district, managed by the 23 Border Roads Task Force.

He underscored the strategic and developmental significance of improved road connectivity in border regions—facilitating troop movement, enhancing access to healthcare and markets, and promoting local tourism. Appreciating the commitment of Project Arunank and the 23 BRTF, he noted their work in maintaining vital routes despite severe climatic and terrain challenges.

Shri Prasad also offered guidance on technical and planning aspects to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing infrastructure works.
