Pushpa 2: The Rule: HD versions of the film surfaced on various piracy websites
The much-anticipated Telugu action drama Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and directed by Sukumar, premiered in theaters on December 5, 2024. Despite its official release, high-definition versions of the film surfaced on various piracy websites within hours, including Tamilrockers, Filmyzilla, and Movierulz.
This unauthorized distribution poses significant challenges to the film industry, leading to substantial revenue losses and undermining the efforts of filmmakers. Engaging with pirated content is illegal and exposes users to potential legal consequences.
The film industry faces losses of up to Rs. 20,000 crore every year due to pirace, as per official data.

However, under Indian law, specifically the Copyright Act of 1957, piracy is a punishable offense. The recent Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023, has introduced stricter penalties to combat film piracy. Individuals found guilty of recording or transmitting films without authorization may face imprisonment ranging from three months to three years and fines between ₹3 lakh and 5% of the film’s audited gross production cost.
Despite the piracy setback, Pushpa 2: The Rule has achieved remarkable box office success, becoming the first film to cross ₹50 crore in two languages on the same day.
To support the film industry and respect intellectual property rights, audiences are urged to watch movies through legal channels, such as theaters and authorized streaming platforms.
