Festive season begins at Kolkata airport with cake mixing ceremony

Passengers join cake mixing ceremony at NSCBI airport lounge

Kolkata, Nov 13: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, marked the start of the holiday season with a cake mixing ceremony at the Travel Club Lounge on Thursday, bringing together passengers, officials and staff in a festive atmosphere.

The event, organised by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in association with the Travel Club Lounge, featured the traditional blending of dried fruits, nuts and spices — a customary prelude to Christmas celebrations that signifies togetherness and the anticipation of the festive period.

Airport director Vikram Singh appreciated the initiative, noting in the official press release that “such events enhance the passenger experience and bring a sense of warmth and community to the airport environment.”

AAI officials, lounge representatives and travellers passing through the airport participated in the event, making it a memorable start to the airport’s festive calendar.

The cake mixing ceremony is the first of several activities planned at Kolkata airport in the coming weeks to spread cheer among passengers during the peak travel season.
