Earlier Ranjit Tamuli Was Suspended on Corruption Charges

Professor Ranjit Tamuli, who was under suspension on charges of corruption, has now been dismissed from the office of Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh Univeristy.

Prof Ranjit Tamuli was suspended on charges of corruption, misusing University funds and procuring vehicles, etc. without following proper norms of the University on February 11 this year.

The charges levelled against Prof Tamuli have been found to be true by the high level committee set up to investigate the allegations.

Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi in his capacity as Chancellor of the Dibrugarh University and in the exercise of the powers conferred upon him decided to remove Prof Tamuli, from the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University with immediate effect.

This order was issued on Monday in public interest as per direction of the Governor Assam cum Chancellor, Dibrugarh University, said a Raj Bhawan communique.

Earlier, the Dibrugarh University Teachers’ Association, Dibrugarh University Officers’ Association, Dibrugarh University Employees’ Association and MLA, Lahowal constituency had earlier submitted separate petitions to the Governor Mukhi stating gross allegations of financial anomalies and misappropriation of funds against Tamuli.

Based on this Mukhi constituted a fact-finding team for looking into the allegations.
