Swarnim Vijay Varsh seminar in Guwahati to commemorate the 50 years of liberation of Bangladesh

GUWAHATI, September 21: Northeast is like a rising sun for both India and Bangladesh because this is the gateway to connect Southeast Asian nations where there is immense opportunities in various field, Union minister of state for Defence Ajay Bhatt said here on Tuesday.

Bhatt was addressing the Swarnim Vijay Varsh seminar organized to commemorate the 50 years of liberation of Bangladesh here on Tuesday.

Bhatt said that there are positive changes in the relationship between India and Bangladesh starting from economic, agriculture, business, water connectivity and the credit goes to the people of both countries.

He asserted that both the countries are focusing on development and progress through cooperation.
in her keynote address, Smita Pant, Union joint secretary, in charge of India’s ties with Bangladesh and Myanmar, said that India has a proud contribution to the Bangladesh liberation. And this seminar is a platform to commemorate history.

She said that in recent times Bangladesh received great political and diplomatic attention. During the time of pandemic both the countries tried to maintain a cordial relationship when the trade via roadways was hampered between the two countries and to deal with the problem they opened their railways for smooth transport, she said.

In his opening remark, Lt Gen. Manoj Pandey, GOC-IN- C, Eastern Command, said that this seminar is a platform to share ideas, generate opportunities to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations are being undertaken throughout the country to commemorate the 50 years of liberation of Bangladesh with victory in the 1971 war between India-Pakistan. This daylong seminar is being organized under the aegis of the Eastern Command and the Gajraj Corps.

In the seminar with the theme of “Bangladesh and NE India: Into the Rising Sun”, high-ranking officials from Bangladesh and India delivered talks on various topics ranging from culture, water sharing, security, connectivity, maritime and regional prosperity.

Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, academic and education advisor to Assam government, Indrani Bagchi, associate editor Times Of India, Nitin Gokhale, media trainer and author and Wasbir Hussain, political commentator, and strategic analyst also took part in the seminar among others.
