In their acceptance speech, Gonsalves and Monga thanked the Academy, their team, their families, and their fans for their support. They also dedicated the award to the elephant and the couple who inspired them to make the film. They hoped their film would encourage people to respect and protect wildlife and nature.

The Oscar win for ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is a historic achievement for Indian cinema, which has previously won only six Oscars in its history. The last Indian to win an Oscar was A.R.
