In another major drug haul, Karbi Anglong Police on Tuesday night detained two drug smugglers and recovered large quantities of heroin from them in Bokajan in Assam.
Approximately 1.777 kg of heroin was seized from their possession in a stop and search operation by Bokajan police.
The two smugglers were identified as Bimal Tassa and Saddam Hussain.
The cache of drugs, believed to be worth around ₹12 crores, was seized from Matipul in Karbi Anglong district’s Bokajan.
The drugs were being transferred in a scooty bearing numbers AS 09 H 4234, packed in 150 soapboxes.
The culprits, who intended to take the drugs to Naughat in Sarupathar in Assam’s Golaghat district, were apprehended while on their way.

In yet another smart operation by @assampolice, a team seized 1.77 kg heroin, in 150 soap boxes inside a two-wheeler at Matipul, at 9.30 pm on November 16. Two accused have been apprehended.

One of them, Saddam Hussain was reportedly shot at while trying to flee from the police. The police shot at his leg as he tried to flee from the scene.
It may be noted that in June this year, drugs worth Rs. 19 cr.
Were seized in Karbi Anglong in two different operations. Five persons including two Tamil women were apprehended during these raids.
