Cachar Police Arrests Pradip Dutta Roy In Hoarding Case

After interrogating Barak Democratic Front president Pradip Dutta Roy for over seven hours, the Cachar Police has arrested him finally in the case relating to the removal of an Assamese hoarding from a petrol pump in Silchar.

Cachar Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Kaur confirmed that a case has been registered against him at Silchar Sadar Police station by Hindu Yuva Parishad based on which he was interrogated.

The Cachar Police found enough evidence against him in the hoarding row. He was arrested under IPC sections 153, 295,295, 124, 505 and 506.

It may be noted that Dutta Roy had issued an ultimatum of 48-hours to replace the Assamese Hoarding with the Bengali one to the Goswami Filling Station owner. Around 30 hours after the ultimatum, the petrol pump management decided to remove the hoarding keeping the security issues in mind.

He was first summoned on Friday at the SP office and then again at 10:00 am on Saturday. While he was still at the DSP Headquarters’ cabin, officials from Silchar Sadar Police Station have arrived at the SP Office and arrested him

While he claimed to be representing the Bengali sentiments of Barak Valley, it is worth mentioning that not a single organisation or representatives visited SP office to support him.
