Three Wild Elephants Were Killed Near Guwahati Few Days Ago
Showing presence of mind and diligence, the drive of a train stopped the train in Hojai, Assam on Friday evening and helped a herd of wild elephants cross the railway line safely.
This has avoided a repeat of the Sonapur incident some time back when a fast moving train killed two elephants near Khetri in Kamrup district.
The menace of wild elephants straying in the district has become very rampant in Hojai district and its adjoining areas as the jumbos deprived of their food habitats enter human habitations in search of food.
Fabulous. Loco pilot stopped the train to allow the elephant herd to cross the track. He deserves an award. This is betwn station Jugijan & Hojai in Assam today. Few days back we lost two elephants in track. @RailNf @RailMinIndia @wti_org_india @alka_b87 @amit62sahai @moefcc pic.twitter.com/hbUjFzh3jP
